IKOYI FESTIVAL-THE ONIKOYI OF IKOYI EKITI (HRM OBA AKINWANDE MOSES OGUNDANA ,OYINYOSAYE IKOYI, OLATUNJI 1) CELEBRATE IKOYI FESTIVAL IN GRAND STYLE.

Ikoyi Ekiti is a prominent town that forms a part of the Ikole Local Government in Ekiti State. This historic town is currently under the leadership of the esteemed HRM Oba Akinwande Moses Ogundana (Oyinyosaye Ikoyi, Olatunji 1) The Onikoyi of Ikoyi Ekiti.

One of the most significant festivals celebrated in Ikoyi Ekiti is the Ogun Festival. This cultural extravaganza is widely celebrated by all sons and daughters of Ikoyi Ekiti, regardless of their religious beliefs, as well as non-indigenes and friends of the town who come together to revel in the festivities.

The Ogun Festival is a week-long event that takes place annually. The most significant part of the ceremony 8s when Oba Onikoyi and his kingsmen go in group to meet with the Oba Asaba of Isaba also with his kingsmen to meet at the supposed boundary of the two towns. Ikoyi and Isaba are said to have emanated from the same source, before they sojourned to their current location where they are today. The festival is known as one of the best festivals celebrated in the heart of Ikole Kingdom, and it is a fun-filled cultural experience that is not to be missed.

On the eve of the last day of the festival, ÒWÌ (Masquerade) has its final procession at the palace of Ọba Onikoyi. This is a memorable event that is witnessed by all, as each masquerade and its family dance to the tune of the cultural songs performed by the Egbegun group.

After the ÒWÌ final procession, the youths and elders of the town proceed to the historical venue, where the chiefs in charge offer prayers for every son and daughter of the land, as well as friends and visitors who have come to celebrate the festival. Curses are also rained down on those who have come with the intention to do evil during the festival. After this, the procession returns to the palace for other activities to commence.

On the final day, early in the , morning marks the final day of the festival, where the youths go on a procession with a brand of whip to hit one another. This is a fun and tasking activity, as strong, able-bodied.
