HON. JAMIU MUHAMMED ASIMI INAUGURATES 10TH LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF IKENNE LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The inauguration of the 10th Legislative Council of Ikenne Local Government marked a significant step forward in fostering development, transparency, and accountability within the area. The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries and served as a testament to the continued progress of the Local Government.
Hon. Jamiu Muhammed Asimi, in his address , expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for their success in the recent election and he extended his appreciation to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his transformative leadership, which has significantly improved the standard of living of the people of the state.
Furthermore, he charged the newly elected members of the 10th Legislative Council to take on their responsibilities with diligence, ensuring the dividends of democracy get to the grassroots.
He emphasized the critical role of the Legislative Council, which is passing of bye-laws, appropriation bills, and overseeing the Executive Arm. This oversight is vital in maintaining a balance of power and ensuring transparency in governance.
The Council will face numerous challenges, from infrastructural development, to social welfare and economic growth. Hon. Asimi implored the Legislative Members to engage in constructive debates, collaborate effectively in lawmaking, and conduct diligent oversight to address pressing issues as they arise.
The Legislative Council commenced their functions by electing principal officers, with Hon. Olawale Odujoko Michael who emerged as the Leader of the House. Other officers elected included Hon. Abidemi Oyedeji Michael as Deputy Leader, Hon. Ogunbowale Abiodun Adeleke as Majority Leader, and Hon. Adekunle Rasheed Oduwale as Chief Whip
The newly elected Leader of the House, Hon. Olawale Odujoko Michael, expressed his gratitude to the Executive Chairman and his Vice Chairman, all members of the House, the APC Party Chieftains, and well-wishers for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the House.
