Thank you for graacing us with your presence. Here’s to a day of reminiscing, reconnecting, and renewing the bonds that make us a family. Welcome, once again, to The Reunion of Like Minds:
The theme of this year’s reunion, "The Reunion of Like Minds: An Aperture for Empowerment," holds a profound significance. It serves as a beacon, guiding us back to the core values that our school instilled in us unity, support, and empowerment. In today's world, where division sometimes overshadows unity, and self-interest can overshadow community, this theme reminds us of the extraordinary power that lies in coming together.

As like-minded individuals, we share a unique bond forged through shared experiences, challenges, and triumphs. Today, we stand at the threshold of an aperture, a gateway to endless opportunities for empowerment. By rekindling our connections, we not only relive the cherished moments of our past but also create a platform for mutual support and encouragement.

Empowerment, in its truest sense, flourishes when we uplift one another. As we reminisce about the past and celebrate the present, let us recognize the potential within each of us to inspire, mentor, and guide. By leveraging our collective knowledge, experiences, and resources, we can create a ripple effect of empowerment that extends far beyond the boundaries of this reunion.

This theme is a reminder that together, we are a formidable force  a force that can drive positive change, nurture dreams, and transform lives. So, let us embrace this reunion as an opportunity not only to reconnect with old friends but also to empower and be empowered, for in our unity lies the strength to make a difference.

Here's to the power of coming together and the boundless empowerment that awaits us on this remarkable journey
As we gather here today, I find myself immersed in a flood of memories from our school days, memories that have shaped us into the individuals we are today. During my time as the student union president of our esteemed university, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible spirit and potential of our fellow students.

I remember the excitement of student elections, the passionate debates, and the shared dreams of creating a better campus environment. Serving as the student union president not only allowed me to represent your voices but also provided a unique platform for political exposure. Those moments of leadership challenged me, pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone and fostering a mental resilience that proved invaluable in the life that awaited beyond the university gates.
Together, we achieved remarkable milestones, and we delivered landmark projects such as the June 26 Relaxation Centre. We faced challenges head-on, overcoming obstacles that seemed insurmountable at times. It was in those challenges that we discovered our collective strength, resilience, and the power of unity.

In the midst of our academic pursuits, we forged friendships that have stood the test of time. The protest memories of Oke-Imosan and Sagamu Expressway, the pain of losing loved ones, and the unwavering support during difficult moments created bonds that are unbreakable. These friendships not only enriched our university experience but also laid the foundation for a network of support that has extended far beyond the campus grounds.

Being the student union president taught me the importance of effective communication, diplomacy, and understanding diverse perspectives  skills that are essential in navigating the complexities of the world outside school. It was a transformative period that prepared me mentally, emotionally, and intellectually for the challenges that lie ahead.

As we reminisce about these shared memories today, let us celebrate not only the achievements but also the invaluable lessons learnt and the friendships that have endured. These experiences have shaped us, empowered us, and united us in ways that are truly profound.
Here's to the memories that bind us, the challenges that strengthened us, and the friendships that continue to enrich our lives. Cheers to the enduring spirit of our university days and to the limitless possibilities that our shared future holds.

The strength of our school community lies in its ability to foster a sense of belonging and comradeship. It's a place where everyone's unique strengths are valued, where diversity is celebrated, and where the success of one is seen as a victory for all. This sense of belonging is a powerful catalyst for empowerment. When individuals feel supported, acknowledged, and valued, they are empowered to explore their potential, set ambitious goals, and work tirelessly to achieve them.

Empowerment begins with initiative  the proactive step to create positive change. As you leave this reunion, I urge you to become architects of empowerment in your communities, workplaces, and personal lives. Be the driving force behind initiatives that uplift others, champion causes close to your heart, and advocate for positive transformation. Embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and be relentless in your pursuit of a better world.

Your actions, both big and small, can inspire a ripple effect of change, illuminating the path for others to follow. Take the lead, stand as beacons of empowerment, and let your actions resonate as a testament to the impact one person can make. Together, let’s weave a tapestry of empowerment that strengthens the very fabric of our society.
Today, our hearts swell with gratitude. We express profound thanks to our beloved alma mater, the nurturing ground where dreams took flight. Gratitude flows towards the dedicated lecturers who ignited our passion for learning and the fellow alumni whose comradeship enriched our journey. Their influence has shaped our lives, reminding us of the power of community, mentorship, and shared experiences.

My dearest comrades, as we bid farewell today, let our hearts be bound by a shared commitment. Let's look forward, not just to the next reunion, but to a continuous journey of connection and empowerment. This gathering isn't just an event; it's a promise. A promise to stay connected throughout the year, to uplift one another, and to be the pillars of support that fuel our collective growth. Let us remember these words by Ronald Burt "Instead of a better glasses, your network gives you better eyes,". This profound quote encapsulates the essence of our gathering today. Our unity, the strength of our connections, and the shared vision we cultivate within this community empower us to see the world with clarity and purpose. Together, we illuminate paths, inspire change, and embrace a future of endless possibilities.

Let me leave us with words of The great Nelson Mandela, who said "It is through empowerment that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farmworkers can become the president of a great nation." These words echo the transformative power of empowerment and the importance of breaking barriers through inclusiveness.

Thank you all for listening.
