Ex Aide to Ogun Gov Emerges APC Youth League President
Comrade Olamide Lawal, a former aide to Chief Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Governor, has emerged as the National President of the All Progressives Congress Youth League [APCYL].
Lawal who was a former Special Adviser on Youth and Sports to the incumbent helmsman of Ogun State and a member of the Presidential Campaign Committee on Youth Mobilization, emerged on a consensus basis.
The new President of APCYL emerged after a rigorous selection process which took place among the Southwest State Coordinators, at their just concluded stakeholders meeting held at their Zonal Headquarters in Òṣogbo, Ọ̀ṣun State, which had in attendance Comr. Musa Taiwo (Lagos), Comr. Yinusa Fawole(Ogun), Comr. Soliu Lawal (Oyo), Comr. Ọdúnjọ Olamiposi (Ọ̀ṣun), Comr. Tosin Lawal (Ondo) and Comr. Akin Opeyemi (Ekiti).
The Southwest Zonal Coordinator of APCYL, Comrade OlúMuyiwa Oyewale, disclosed this in statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo.
According to Oyewale, Comrade Olamide Lawal would bring his wealth of experience and commitment to the ideals of the APC Youth League to bear; stressing , "He is a man with proven mettle and track records of leadership and dedication to the party. No doubt, he is well-equipped to lead the organization towards achieving its goals and objectives"
He further asserted that, "As the consensus President, Comrade Olamide Lawal will spearhead efforts to mobilize and engage young people across the country by ensuring their active participation in political processes. In addition, his leadership will focus on empowering the youth through the promotion of their welfare by constantly advocating for their interests within the party and the larger society.
Among other things, the Zonal Coordinator assured that, the new APCYL President would build a vibrantly united and inclusive youth wing, that represents the aspirations and concerns of young people within the APC.
"He plans to implement programs and initiatives that will empower young people economically, socially, and politically which will enable them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building" he added.
To achieve this, Oyewale maintained that, Lawal would work in synergy with the party leaders and policymakers, to ensure that the voices and perspectives of young people were heard and considered in the formulation of policies and decision-making processes.
Besides, the Zonal Coordinator said, efforts would be geared towards reaching out to young people at the grassroots by ensuring their active involvement in party activities and campaigns.
