"Let's Think Twice: Is Protesting Tomorrow the Best Solution?" Dear Fellow youth, I understand your frustration and anger towards the current state of affairs in the country. However, I urge you to reconsider protesting tomorrow. While I share your passion for change, I believe there may be better ways to achieve our goals. We need to sit back and rethink on what protesting can lead to: ✍🏼Unnecessary conflict and violence.  ✍🏼Disruption of public services and daily life (disturbing the daily activities of many Nigerians whose life depends on daily earnings.  ✍🏼Negative media coverage and stereotypes.  ✍🏼Divided communities and relationships.  🗣️Instead, I'd advise that we explore alternative solutions with the authorities.  ✍🏼 Let's navigate and engage in c

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Dies In London

Image
Were an outpouring of eulogies and tears potent enough to rouse a dead man, Nigerian Senator from Anambra South, and an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who reportedly died this morning would have reconsidered spending a few more days before plunging into his eternal sleep. We learnt that Ubah died in a hotel in London, the United Kingdom. He had left for London two days ago. His death was also confirmed on a group chat of senators who had started to pour in tributes. His death reminds us of our dour humanity, and of the fragility of our hold on human subsistence. The world is indeed a stage and life itself is but a walking shadow. Life is a permanent shuttle in the sepulcher, and what we have are fleeting memories, stilled mementoes, fraught memories and the fractured memorabilia of those who are gone forever, never to be seen again. If Ifeanyi had his way, he would have bullishly negotiated with death to name its cost, even in dollars or pou

Ogun says LG election notice fake news

Image
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Mr Kayode Akinmade, on Sunday, described as fake news a statement circulating on social media announcing that the next local government elections in the state will hold on October 26, 2024. The present elected local government officials were elected on July 24, 2021, sworn in on July 26, 2021, and so should be completing their three-year tenure by Friday, July 26. The recent Supreme Court judgment barred the usual practice of appointing a caretaker committee by the state governors to run the affairs of the local government. The apex court has equally insisted on having a democratically elected government at the local government and that a local government without a democratically elected government won’t be able to have access to the monthly allocation from the Federal Government. Meanwhile, the statement said to have been signed by the Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission,
